NAVAIR intends to award a sole source contract to Air Cruisers Company, LLC for the procurement of 16 LRU-33/A 20 person life rafts and carrying cases, with an option for associated foam blocks and cable guides. This acquisition is conducted under FAR 6.302-1 due to the specialized nature of the equipment, as these specific rafts are the only ones certified for use on the KC-130J aircraft per ECP C-130-128. Utilizing this specific source ensures the equipment can be installed in the aircraft wing without requiring additional modifications or crew re-training. The solicitation, identified by number N68335-15-T-0423, falls under NAICS code 336612 and is managed by the Navair Warfare Ctr Aircraft Division. While the government is pursuing a sole source award based on the unique capabilities of Air Cruisers Company, LLC, the notice allows other responsible sources to submit capability statements or quotations to determine if competitive procurement is feasible. The action is centered at Joint Base MDL in New Jersey.
