Mar Vista Gardens – Maintenance and Safety Repairs Project

The City of Los Angeles, through the California Housing and Community Development department, is preparing to execute the Mar Vista Gardens – Maintenance and Safety Repairs Project using federal funds allocated under CA16P004-501-26. The project entails a full-scale modernization of public housing units to enhance habitability, safety, and accessibility, with comprehensive upgrades including ADA compliance modifications, asbestos abatement, tile and roof replacements, exterior cladding and painting, and repair or replacement of concrete walkways, parking areas, and interior streets. Interior improvements include electrical system upgrades, lead-based paint stabilization, mold remediation, window and door replacements, and repairs to fire-damaged areas, alongside routine unit modernization. Infrastructure enhancements involve replacing aging gas, water, and sewer utility lines, installing new 20-year roofs, and upgrading playgrounds, exercise equipment, and fencing. Additional safety measures include the installation of security cameras, exterior lighting, and perimeter fencing to improve resident security. The project directly benefits residents of Mar Vista Gardens public housing by delivering a safer, healthier, and more accessible living environment.
