North Tahoe Recreation Access Plan-Ward Creek Trailhead Maintenance & Improvements

Placer County is planning maintenance and improvements at the Ward Creek Trailhead to enhance public recreation access and protect natural resources. The project involves paving thirteen existing dirt parking stalls to create all-weather surfaces that stabilize eroding soils and ensure year-round usability. Erosion control features will be constructed to manage and treat stormwater runoff, improving downstream water quality. Rock barricades, both existing and new, will be installed to deter vehicles from parking outside designated paved areas, safeguarding native vegetation and sensitive habitats. An informational kiosk will be added to educate visitors on responsible trail use and environmental stewardship. These upgrades aim to balance public access with ecological preservation in a high-use recreational area in California.
