Full Description

This is a pre-solicitation synopsis in accordance with FAR Part 5. The United States Coast Guard Surface Forces Logistics Center has a requirement for Marine Structural Services. The Government anticipates awarding a requirements type contract for one (1) base year and four (4) option years. The NAICS code for this requirement is 336611 and the small business size standard is 1,000 employees. All work will be performed at the U.S. Coast Guard Yard, Curtis Bay, Baltimore, MD on vessels both in dry-dock and pier side. The requirement for the Marine Structural Services will be fulfilled using the procedures of FAR Part 12. The formal solicitation, the Request for Quote (RFQ), will tentatively be posted to FedBizOpps on July 16, 2011. The lead structural worker/structural workers must be American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 certified for shielded metal arc welding all positions and flux core arc welding all positions. Must be able read and interpret from drawings, sketches and specifications as required to complete assigned tasks. In addition, must be able to layout, shape and install shell plates, framing, bulkhead plating, watertight doors, equipment foundations, handrails and ladders. The contractor is responsible for all basic hand tools and safety equipment for the assigned employees. Hand tools include saws, hammers, clamps, rules and grinders. Required safety equipment include: helmets, safety glasses and shoes, respirators, hearing protection. Note: Workers assigned to any Yard contract will NOT be permitted to wear disposable paper respirator at any time. All responsible sources may submit a proposal which, if timely received and in accordance with the solicitation, shall be considered by this agency. Responses shall be concise and be specifically directed to the requirement referenced above. It is the offerors responsibility to monitor FedBizOpps for changes or amendments to this notice.
