Higher education and not-for-profit research institutions in NYS are eligible to apply for matching funds to leverage resources from federal or private sources, including the National Science Foundation. the National Insitute of Health, and other organizations. To qualify for a Matching Funds Grant, the research institution is required to meet a minimum 2:1 matching requirement of dollars coming to NYS. For every dollar an institution receives from the state, the institution must receive at least two dollars from sources outside the institution. Funds eligible for matching are those received by the institution from the granting entity and/or from private industry that will remain in New York State. Institutional and other state funds are not eligible to calculate the 2:1 matching funds.
