AI Contract Overview
The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) is preparing to issue a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to establish the Maternal Medication and Human Milk Research Center (M2HMRC) as a key component of the NICHD’s Maternal and Pediatric Precision in Therapeutics (MPRINT) Hub. This center will focus on advancing research into the effects of maternal medications on the composition of human milk and the health outcomes for neonates and infants. Its mission includes identifying knowledge gaps in medication use during pregnancy and lactation, integrating real-world evidence with chemical and bioanalytic data, developing innovative tools to enhance medication safety and efficacy, and broadly disseminating this knowledge. The M2HMRC will work collaboratively with MPRINT’s Knowledge and Research Coordinating Center to conduct clinical, translational, and data science research, all under a cooperative agreement framework suitable for complex, large-scale research activities. Currently, applications are not being solicited, but this announcement serves to provide advance notice, allowing potential applicants to build relevant collaborations and develop strong project proposals. The funding opportunity is authorized under several public health service acts and related laws, ensuring the NICHD’s ability to support this initiative. The point of contact for further information is Dr. Zhaoxia Ren, who can be reached via email or phone. This forecasted funding opportunity reflects the NIH’s commitment to improving maternal and pediatric health through precision therapeutics research.
