The City of St. Augustine is seeking dredging services to maintain navigable waterways, focusing primarily on Salt Run, particularly from Conch House Marina to the Lighthouse Boat Ramp. Historically, dredging activities in Salt Run have varied from around 6,000 to nearly 19,000 cubic yards per year, with the most recent project removing 10,784 cubic yards. The City plans to continue multi-year funding to sustain similar dredging volumes in this area. In addition to Salt Run, the City plans to dredge approximately 10,000 cubic yards from the Dolphin Drive Basin, near the City Marina, where 882 cubic yards were removed previously. Other past dredging projects include significant removals from the San Sebastian River and the City Marina. This solicitation invites bids for both mechanical and hydraulic dredging methods, marking a shift from the City's previous exclusive reliance on mechanical dredging and signaling interest in exploring hydraulic techniques for future projects. The initial work under the contract will focus on removing material from the Dolphin Drive Basin, followed by ongoing maintenance of Salt Run, with provisions for additional projects as required. The solicitation is managed by the General Services agency in St. Augustine, Florida, with a response deadline set for early March 2026. Key contacts for the contract include the Deputy Director and Grants Coordinator, who can provide further information.

The City has an ongoing need for dredging services in several key areas to maintain navigable waterways. One of the most frequently dredged locations is Salt Run, particularly the stretch from Conch House Marina to the Lighthouse Boat Ramp. A project completed this year removed 10,784 cubic yards (CY) of material from Salt Run. Historical dredging in this area includes the following table. The City intends to continue using multi-year funding to remove similar quantities in Salt Run. Time Frame Cubic Yards 2009 18,720 2010 12,088 2012 8,485 2013-2016 5,953 2019 15,000 2022 10,259 The City has also dredged the Dolphin Drive entrance, a basin located just southeast of the City Marina. A total of 882 CY was removed previously and the City plans to remove approximately 10,000 CY in the basin in the coming year. Other historical dredging includes 13,031 CY removed from the San Sebastian River in 2015 and 11,192 CY removed from the City Marina in 2011. The first upcoming project is expected to remove 10,000 CY from the Dolphin Drive Basin. Following this, multi-year funding will support continued maintenance dredging in Salt Run. Any additional dredging projects will be undertaken as needed. While past experience has been entirely with mechanical dredging, this solicitation includes both mechanical and hydraulic methods, highlighting the City's interest in exploring hydraulic dredging for future projects.
