Medical Gas and Vacuum Systems Inspection, Verification, Testing, and Certification

The contractor is required to perform annual inspection, verification, testing, and certification of medical gas and vacuum systems at the El Paso Veterans Affairs Health Care System, covering all piped systems including oxygen, nitrogen, nitrous oxide, medical air, dental air, medical vacuum, waste anesthetic gas disposal, and dental vacuum, along with associated components such as source equipment, distribution piping, zone valves, alarm panels, outlets, inlets, manifolds, cylinder banks, air dryers, filters, receivers, and control systems. All work must comply with NFPA 99 (2018 edition), OSHA standards, and Joint Commission accreditation requirements, with the contractor’s Medical Gas Verifier required to hold ASSE 6030 certification. The contractor must supply all personnel, equipment, tools, transportation, supervision, and materials necessary to complete the work, develop and maintain a written Quality Control Plan, report all deficiencies immediately to the VA point of contact, and submit a comprehensive certification report detailing test results, system inventory, deviations from NFPA 99, corrective actions taken, and a determination on whether an immediate follow-up visit is required. The contract includes a one-year base period from November 1, 2026, to October 31, 2027, with four optional one-year extension periods through October 31, 2030, and requires the contractor to conduct an out-brief upon completion of services.
