Metro Airport Vicinity

The Metro Airport Vicinity project, identified by solicitation number PLER2025-00051, is a forecast infrastructure initiative managed by Sacramento County. The primary scope involves the widening of Power Line Road from a two-lane local road to a two-lane arterial featuring a center turn lane. This work extends from the intersection of Power Line Road at Allbaugh Drive to West W Elverta Road, including 2,100 linear feet along West W Elverta Road, for a total project length of approximately 4,900 linear feet. The project incorporates critical utility and drainage upgrades, including a potable water line and storm drain improvements. Additionally, the Sacramento Municipal Utility District will relocate twenty utility poles along Power Line Road and W Elverta Road to accommodate the new road configuration. Parallel to the road widening, the project includes the Skyking Road Extension from Metro Airpark to Phelan Drive. This portion of the work involves constructing Skyking Road and Phelan Drive as two-lane arterials equipped with bike lanes, separated sidewalks, and eight-foot landscape planters. Infrastructure additions include six streetlights, storm drainage, and a 12-inch potable water system. The project has been approved following an environmental review under CEQA guidelines, confirming that an Addendum to the previously certified Environmental Impact Report is sufficient and no new mitigation measures are required. The project is located in Metro Air Park between Metro Air Parkway and W. Elkhorn Boulevard, with administrative oversight provided by Environmental Coordinator Julie Newton and Project Engineer Nestor Hernandez.
