This project is being undertaken in anticipation of an exceptionally strong El Nino event forecast for the 2026-2027 fall and winter seasons and the Mojave River's documented history of emergency flooding, erosion, washouts, levee breaches, bridge embankment scour, and sediment deposition. Emergency activities may include, but not be limited to, the removal of accumulated sediment and debris, repair of eroded or washed out side slopes, levees, and access roads; and repair of appurtenant flood control structures to protect private and public infrastructure, private property, and public safety.
