1. WORK LOCATION: NBPL Magazine Compound / Building 512 General Explosives Operating Location. BASE: NBPL BUILDING: All 13 weapons magazines; 518, 519, 520, 521, 522, 523, 524, 525, 526, 625, 626, 627, 628. General Explosives Operating Location 512. ROOM/AREA OF THE BUILDING: Headwall INTERIOR/EXTERIOR: Exterior ADDITIONAL LOCATION DETAILS: Install Surge Protection Device’s IAW NFPA-780 Chapter 4 Section 20 (Surge Protection). NAVSEA OP 5, Para 6-7 (Surge Suppression) , Para 6-7.2, (Requirements). 2. LOCATION POC INFO LOCATION POC’s COMMAND: Naval Base Point Loma HQ 3. ISSUE: Who: NBPL What: Approved facilities for weapons storage When: Project briefed to ICO every 30 days until completed Where: NBPL Magazine Compound Why: To meet electrical code/circuit protection requirements set forth in NFPA 780/NAVSEA OP5 for explosive storage facilities as well as to ensure the completion of WebSAR ID: 5110 Comprehensive NBPL Magazine Site Approval Request, released NOV of 2020. 4. IMPACT: Engineering control compliance, Lightning Strike at Magazine Compound, RAC 3. Unlikely/Catastrophic. Although this isn’t a project that I would consider a number one the sky is falling priority for the installation, it is something that will eventually(within 2mos) trigger me to provide Acceptance of Risk paperwork for the ICO to sign if we don’t take care of it in a timely manner (6mos est.). There is potential that this could become a significant finding from external inspection team i.e. NOSSA (if the inspector is savvy in electrical (not many)) and result in contention regarding the operation of our magazines up to a 180 day shutdown, pe ...
