The Army Targets Management Office is hosting the fourth Industry Day Forum for the New Generation Army Target System (NGATS) from May 13 to 15, 2003, in Huntsville, Alabama. This forum is designed to engage potential offerors and interested parties in detailed discussions and feedback sessions focused on the NGATS Specification and Interface Control Documents (ICDs), which outline the proposed performance requirements for the system. Participants encouraged to attend include companies involved with target hardware, battlefield effects simulators, target control and scoring systems, live fire ranges, or those experienced with integrating and testing distributed component systems. Attendees are strongly urged to review the specification and ICDs beforehand and submit written questions and comments in advance to facilitate productive discussions, as there will be no government briefing to explain the documents during the forum. The NGATS program aims to develop a family of interchangeable targetry components for live fire ranges, enhancing performance while minimizing life cycle costs. The program's initial fielding is planned for late fiscal year 2006 with further stages to be determined later. The three-day event includes presentations to introduce NGATS and related acquisition plans, followed by focused technical group discussions on the specifications and ICDs. The forum emphasizes open and critical feedback on technical aspects without attribution, with the results and briefings to be compiled and distributed on a CD-ROM to registered participants. Registration is required by May 9, 2003, including special instructions for foreign nationals, and the event will take place at CSC Inc facilities with support for security access and parking. All briefings and discussions will be conducted at an unclassified level.
