Full Description

This is a Notice of Intent to Increase the Ceiling of Contract N66001-15-C-4036 awarded on behalf of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency Defense Sciences Office (DARPA DSO) on 22 June 2015 for a performance period of fifteen (15) months, with two 12-month option periods. The effort under the contract is in support of the DARPA DSO Program, Simplifying Complexity in Scientific Discovery (SIMPLEX) and involves the synthesis and exploration of microstructural dependencies of thermoelectric properties with intermolecular materials to demonstrate high-throughput computational experimental material prediction and validation of novel Heusler alloys. These added efforts will leverage existing work performed to enable (i) iterative verification and refinement for data-mined predictions during the Phase II program and (ii) gathering experimental data during Phase II that will allow for the design of Heusler thermoelectrics with higher-impact than lead chalcogenides. This effort will result in improved tools and approaches for verifying and gathering experimental data for thermoelectric properties for Heusler alloys. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541712 Research and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Biotechnology). Due to the nature of Research and Development efforts, DARPA DSO could not have reasonably estimated the results and/or need for additional research under this program. This action includes a ceiling increase of approximately $499,135.00. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals or quotes, however, interested parties may submit comments in writing to the Contract Specialist, Mrs. Veronica Velarde, Code 22530, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center, Pacific who may be reached by telephone at +1 (555) 000-0000 or via email to contact@example.gov. This notice will be posted for 15 days. A determination by the Government not to compete based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
