The Ship to Shore Maneuver Exploration and Experimentation (S2ME2) Task Force was established on August 24, 2016 in a joint letter signed by the Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Navy for Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (DASN(RDT&E)) and the Deputy Commandant, Combat Development and Integration (DC CD&I). The S2ME2 Task Force is charged with experimenting with new operational concepts and technologies/innovations that will advance the USMCs Ship to Shore Maneuver Warfare concept of operation. S2ME2 is one of a series of Advanced Naval Technology Exercises that DASN(RDT&E) is establishing where the Naval Research and Development Establishment (NR&DE) leads the engagement with industry, academia, and Government R&D organizations interested in demonstrating emerging technologies and engineering innovations that address high-priority Navy and Marine Corps missions. The resulting technical and operational assessments will inform CONOPs development, requirements development, and future Naval acquisitions.
