The contract awarded to DRS Corporation for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic involves modernization and system engineering support for the Integrated Voice Communications Systems used on CG 47 and DDG 51 classes of AEGIS Guided Missile Cruisers and Destroyers. The existing contract, originally set to expire in February 2020, is proposed to be modified by increasing the contract value by over $29.5 million and extending the period of performance through February 2022. DRS Corporation is the sole provider due to proprietary rights over the necessary hardware and software, making this a non-competitive modification executed under specific statutory authority allowing sole-source contracting. This action reflects the Navy’s intent to continue critical upgrades and engineering services for voice communication systems essential to fleet operations. While this notice is not a solicitation for competitive proposals, responses that demonstrate a clear advantage in competition may be submitted by the specified deadline. The contract modification is managed by the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic office in North Charleston, SC, ensuring ongoing technical support and modernization efforts are maintained for the required naval platforms.
