Repair leaking expansion joint, ~10 LF above ground steam piping, and steam trap assembly that provides steam to buildings KQ, KM, J53, KL, and KBB. A steam leak is occurring at the expansion joint (K-SDXJ01) near Building KQ (Saratoga Hall). The leak poses a potential risk to pedestrian safety and system integrity. The purpose of this task order is to recommend contractor response to replace the expansion joint. Additionally, steam leaks are also seen near the drip leg/piping next to the expansion joint. Therefore, this task order also recommends replacing a portion of the steam piping supporting the expansion joint. The contractor is responsible for the following: 1. Site visit to review existing conditions and verify the measurements/materials/model of the expansion joint, steam piping, and drip station. Records show that the currently installed expansion joint is a 10-INCH SLIP TUBE. 2. Traffic control, as required, during the duration of the project. 3. Maintain the site safety during the duration of the project. 4. Replace 10-INCH expansion joint as noted in the map. Install replacement expansion joint in accordance with the manufacturer’s written installation instructions, as applicable. 5. Replace ~10 feet of piping during the removal of the expansion joint, as necessary. 6. Replace steam line drip station (i.e., drip leg, steam trap assembly) located near the expansion joint. Repairing this expansion joint and portion of the steam line will reduce the likelihood of losing steam service, if the expansion joint leak worsens, to the buildings below during the heating season: Building KQ: Saratoga Hall Bachelor Enlisted Quarters Building KM: Lexington Hall Building J53: Carter Hall Building KL, Building KBB And ...
