Nutrition Obesity Research Centers (NORCs) (P30 Clinical Trial Optional)

The National Institutes of Health, under the Department of Health and Human Services, is soliciting applications through RFA-DK-27-120 to establish Nutrition Obesity Research Centers (NORCs). These centers are designed to enhance national research efforts in nutrition and obesity by supporting three primary activities: Biomedical Research Core services, a Pilot and Feasibility (P and F) program, and a Scientific Catalyst program. The program aims to advance basic science, clinical studies, implementation research, and stakeholder engagement. Applications are due by October 20, 2026, and the total project period may not exceed five years. Funding is limited to 750,000 dollars in direct costs per year, with up to 150,000 dollars of that specifically available for the Pilot and Feasibility program. Individual P and F projects may receive up to 50,000 dollars in direct costs per year for up to two years. The NIDDK intends to commit 3.6 million dollars in FY 2027 to fund up to three awards. Award evaluation is based on scientific merit, focusing on significance, environment, and the strength of the center's research base and administrative integration. Eligible applicants must maintain active registrations in the System for Award Management (SAM), possess a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI), and be registered with eRA Commons and ORCID. Key personnel requirements include a Center Director commitment of at least 2.4 person months. For projects involving clinical trials, applicants must adhere to ClinicalTrials.gov registration requirements and provide comprehensive data and safety monitoring plans. Additionally, awardees must implement cybersecurity incident reporting procedures that notify HHS agencies within 48 hours of discovery.
