AI Contract Overview

The U.S. Air Force intends to award a sole source contract to Furniture Solutions for the Workplace for the procurement of office furniture and modular systems at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base to replace and expand existing workstation configurations. The procurement is justified under FAR 12.102 due to the proprietary nature of Teknion (District) furniture systems currently in use, which feature unique connectors that require compatibility with existing infrastructure and adherence to manufacturer warranty protocols. Furniture Solutions for the Workplace is the sole authorized Teknion dealer for this location, making competition impractical. The acquisition falls under NAICS code 337214 with a size standard of 1,100 employees and PSC/FSC 7110 for Office Furniture. Delivery is required FOB Destination at WPAFB, Ohio 45433-5529 within 120 days of contract award, with final inspection and acceptance conducted by the government upon arrival. All offerors must maintain an active registration in the System for Award Management (SAM) and provide a current CMMC Level 1 self-certification attesting to compliance with 15 Federal Contract Information safeguards, which must be recorded in the Supplier Performance Risk System via PIEE. Failure to meet these requirements will disqualify an offeror. Solicitation responses must be submitted via email to Jessica Stamper and Adam Holden no later than May 18, 2026, at 2:00 PM EST, with the exact subject line “F20045 New Office Furniture Expansion 2025TP218” and attachments limited to .PDF, .doc, or .xls formats—.zip and .exe files will be filtered out. No competitive bidding is anticipated unless a valid exception is submitted and reviewed by the government.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE
This is a Sole Source Synopsis published for informational purposes only. This proposed action is for a Office Furniture and Modular Systems Furniture enhancement for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base AFRL/IZO workcenter. See Attachment - Statement of Work (SOW).

The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of RFO 12.102. The contracting officer has determined that only one source is reasonably available: Furniture Solutions for the Workplace (Distributor of Teknion (District) Office Furniture).

This proposed procurement will be Sole Source under North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 337214, Office Furniture (Except Wood) Manufacturing. Business size standard for NAICS 337214 is 1,100 employees. PSC/FSC code: 7110: Office Furniture

The proposed source is Furniture Solutions for the Workplace, located at 1340 Clay Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, quotation, or exception to the intent to purchase on a sole source basis, which shall be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

The reason for lack of competition is as follows: Current existing workstations are Teknion (District) products. Additional workstations would need to be compatible with existing furniture for product consistency and reconfiguration options in future of all spaces. This manufacturer's furniture contains proprietary connectors. Warranty claims of same manufacturer are required. Teknion dealers are only authorized to bid in specified regions or territories. The only Teknion authorized dealer for Wright Patterson Air Force base is Furniture Solutions for the Workplace, therefore this will be a sole source to Furniture Solutions for the Workplace Please see Attachment - Sole Source Justification, for more complete details.

Delivery Destination: WPAFB OH 45433-5529
Delivery Type: FOB Destination (As defined in FAR 2.101 – Definitions, the seller or consignor is responsible for the cost of shipping and risk of loss.).

NOTE 2: In accordance with R-DFARS 252.204-7021 and R-DFARS 252.204-7025, a CMMC Level 1 assessment is a mandatory requirement for all offerors bidding with the Department of War. Under CMMC Level 1, all offerors must demonstrate full compliance by self-certifying with the 15 basic safeguarding requirements for Federal Contract Information (FCI) outlined in RFO 52.240-93(b)(1).

Once your organization has confirmed its compliance with these 15 requirements, you must enter this self-certification into the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) module within PIEE (https://piee.eb.mil).
