The Department of Defense intends to procure office furniture and modular systems specifically for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base AFRL/IZO workcenter through a sole source contract. The acquisition, categorized under NAICS code 337214 for office furniture manufacturing, will be awarded exclusively to Furniture Solutions for the Workplace, the authorized distributor of Teknion (District) office furniture in the region. This sole source decision is based on the requirement that new furniture be compatible with existing Teknion workstations, including proprietary connectors and warranty conditions, ensuring product consistency and configurability. Furniture Solutions for the Workplace is the only authorized Teknion dealer serving this base, justifying the sole source procurement. The contract includes delivery within 120 days to Wright Patterson AFB with FOB destination terms, whereby the government will conduct inspection and acceptance upon delivery. Prospective offerors must be registered and maintain an active status in the System for Award Management (SAM), and comply with CMMC Level 1 cybersecurity requirements, including self-certification of safeguarding federal contract information. Interested parties may submit capability statements or proposals challenging the sole source intent by May 18, 2026, with communications sent only via email to designated contacts, adhering to specified subject line and attachment format protocols to avoid email filtration issues. The contract scope and justification details are further outlined in the attached Statement of Work and Sole Source Justification documents.

NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE
This is a Sole Source Synopsis published for informational purposes only. This proposed action is for a Office Furniture and Modular Systems Furniture enhancement for the Wright Patterson Air Force Base AFRL/IZO workcenter. See Attachment - Statement of Work (SOW).

The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of RFO 12.102. The contracting officer has determined that only one source is reasonably available: Furniture Solutions for the Workplace (Distributor of Teknion (District) Office Furniture).

This proposed procurement will be Sole Source under North American Industry Classification Code (NAICS) 337214, Office Furniture (Except Wood) Manufacturing. Business size standard for NAICS 337214 is 1,100 employees. PSC/FSC code: 7110: Office Furniture

The proposed source is Furniture Solutions for the Workplace, located at 1340 Clay Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, quotation, or exception to the intent to purchase on a sole source basis, which shall be considered by the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.

The reason for lack of competition is as follows: Current existing workstations are Teknion (District) products. Additional workstations would need to be compatible with existing furniture for product consistency and reconfiguration options in future of all spaces. This manufacturer's furniture contains proprietary connectors. Warranty claims of same manufacturer are required. Teknion dealers are only authorized to bid in specified regions or territories. The only Teknion authorized dealer for Wright Patterson Air Force base is Furniture Solutions for the Workplace, therefore this will be a sole source to Furniture Solutions for the Workplace Please see Attachment - Sole Source Justification, for more complete details.
