The Department of Commerce, through the AD for Laboratory Programs, is forecasting the procurement of an Optical Photothermal Infrared (OPTIR) Microscope to be located in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The required system must feature tunable quantum cascade lasers covering the 3000-2700 cm-1 and 1800-1000 cm-1 ranges, an optical switching box, and the capability to collect spectra in both imaging and spectroscopy modes. The hardware must include a microscope with switchable 10x visible and 40x visible/IR objectives, a motorized stage for manual and automated operation, and an automated IR polarizer capable of 90 degrees of rotation. Technical performance standards require a spatial resolution in imaging mode below 500 nm, with the ability to extend below 300 nm on standard particle control. Additionally, the system must integrate a user-changeable 532 nm visible laser for the probe that is seamlessly managed via software to accommodate varying sample requirements. This procurement falls under NAICS code 334516.
