Orangevale Parks Wildfire Reduction and Habitat Restoration

The project consists of the removal of ladder fuels including fallen trees, dead wood, and brush from four (4) park sites and natural areas to reduce wildfire hazards. The removal will include chipping dead wood and leaving woodchips in place or recycling for mulch. The project will also limb up trees along trails and fire access roads, string trim to reduce fire-fuel, create or maintain firebreaks by mowing, and maintain or replace native plants and trees. The total project size is approximately 23.6 acres with a breakdown as follows. Orangevale Community Park (12.5± acres), Sundance Nature Area (1.1± acres), Rollingwood Nature Area (5.1± acres), and the Shackelton Woods portion of Orangevale Community Center Park (4.9± acres).
