Parks Trinity Fuelbreak

The Trinity County Resource Conservation District is preparing to implement the Parks Trinity Fuelbreak Project in collaboration with the United States Forest Service to reduce wildfire risk across approximately 1,910 acres in Northern Trinity County and extending into Siskiyou County, California. The project will focus on strategic fuel reduction treatments along Parks Creek Road, targeting overstocked and diseased forest areas weakened by drought, insect infestation, and dense tree growth. These treatments are designed to protect local communities from catastrophic wildfires, restore forest health, and promote ecological resilience by reintroducing beneficial fire processes. The initiative is funded through a combination of sources, with significant support coming from CAL FIRE grant funds, and will unfold over a five-year implementation period followed by ongoing maintenance activities using similar methods. All work will adhere to a detailed set of resource protection measures outlined in Appendix A of the Decision Memo to ensure environmental compliance. The project is managed by the District’s Fuels Program Manager, Gracie Hilinski, and the anticipated posting date for formal solicitation is June 5, 2026.
