AI Contract Overview
The contract involves the complete replacement of the severely deteriorated paved area at the Memphis Cotton Classing Facility, originally paved in 1995. The pavement has suffered from poor drainage and water intrusion into the subbase, resulting in significant degradation. The work will be conducted in up to three phases, potentially requiring multiple mobilizations depending on the project schedule. The project aims to preserve as much of the existing subgrade as feasible while replacing areas where necessary to ensure proper drainage, slope, and longevity of the finished parking surface. Fog sealing is not required for this project. Additional contract requirements include matching existing pavement striping using acrylic paint, as specified in Amendment 1. A specific repair approach for a sinkhole is outlined, involving clearing debris, filling with 3/4” gravel, and asphalting. The solicitation falls under a total small business set-aside and is managed by the USDA’s Department of Agriculture office in Minneapolis, with performance of work located in Memphis, Tennessee. The contract has a tight response deadline and is classified under NAICS code 237310 for paving and surfacing work.
