Port of Long Beach - Potholing, Geotechnical, & Environmental Investigation (Harbor Development Permit 24-036)

The Port of Long Beach has established a baseline project budget of 8,400,000 for the Gateway Entry and Monument Signage Project, with an initial spending authorization of 1,392,000 to complete the design, bid, and award phases. This project, identified under Harbor Development Permit 24-036(1), involves the installation of approximately six free-standing monument signs, three exterior wall-mounted signs, two flagpoles, and associated landscaping at various locations throughout the Harbor District in Long Beach, California. Additionally, the scope includes the replacement of the Queensway Bridge gateway sign and the connection of new signage to necessary power sources. The project is managed by the Port of Long Beach Environmental Planning Division, with key personnel including Senior Civil Engineer Trang Nguyen and Director of Environmental Planning Renee Moilanen. It has been granted a Notice of Exemption from the California Environmental Quality Act under sections 15301, 15302, and 15303, as the work consists of minor alterations to existing facilities and the construction of small structures.
