Full Description
The City water system provides retail water service to the city of West Palm Beach, the town of Palm Beach, and the town of South Palm Beach. The system serves approximately 125,000 residents covering 61 square miles and provides water for both indoor and outdoor use for approximately 31,500 residential and commercial customers. The City’s water treatment plant is a conventional lime softening facility with ultraviolet light disinfection which can produce 47 million gallons of water per day.
The project is being partially funded through a Federal Emergency Management Agency: Hazard Mitigation Grant (#4337-293-R). The Grant requires the protection of all openings by installing new hurricane resistant windows and doors and to provide additional structural hardening measures as identified by the structural engineer. The Grant also requires development of existing “As-Built” drawings reflecting the windows, doors and vents and certification of the post project “As-Built” drawings for conformance to the Grant requirements. The intent of this project is to protect the integrity of the building envelopes and reduce potential damage from wind events.
The project is subject to a set project schedule and time is of the essence in completing the project by the contract end date of September 30, 2021.
