The United States Postal Service issued this Sources Sought Notice to identify suppliers capable of providing mail irradiation services in the Washington DC area to eliminate harmful bacteria from letters, flats, periodicals, and packages. This is a request for information to pre-qualify sources and is not a formal solicitation for purchase. The USPS requires a solution with at least 90 percent operational availability, capable of processing approximately 274,100 pounds of letters and flats and 3,500 pounds of packages per month. Interested suppliers must demonstrate the ability to provide full operations, diagnostics, and maintenance support through one of three models: utilizing an existing facility, constructing a new compliant facility, or providing a facility for third-party operation within a fifty-mile radius of Washington DC. Responses must include system descriptions and performance data to substantiate the supplier's capabilities. The USPS will use this information to determine pre-qualification for potential future competitive evaluation testing.
