Full Description

Description: Notice of intent to compete with limited competition for the National Marine MammalLab (NMML). Purpose of proposed acquisition is to 1) complete gray whale abundance software composed of gray whale surveys, 2) update and revise computer software for modeling gray whale and bowhead populations, and 3) develop a computer-based data acquisition program for cetacean aerial surveys. The work is highly technical nature and limited in application to those experienced with both high-level computer programming and cetacean research, including gray whale abundance surveys, line transect surveys, and population modeling. NMML requires an individual with both strong computer programming skills as well as past experience as a cetacean observer, and the ability to participate in the field on cetacean surveys for extended periods of time. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
