R--LEAD YARD SERVICES FOR SHIP DETAIL DESIGN, LONG LEAD TIME MATERIAL MANUFACTURING AND INSTALLATION PLANNING SUPPORT

The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to issue a sole source solicitation to Electric Boat Corporation (EBC) for additional lead yard services related to detailed ship design, installation planning support, and the procurement and manufacture of long lead time materials. These efforts are aimed at converting up to four Ohio Class Nuclear Powered Submarines (SSBN) into Ohio Class Guided Missile Nuclear Powered Submarines (SSGN). Given EBC's unique position as the sole designer, developer, and builder of the Ohio Class submarines, they possess the essential expertise and technical knowledge required to manage, execute, and integrate this complex conversion within the required schedule. EBC will act as the conversion manager for the SSGN project and will conduct this work under the framework of an existing contract (N00024-02-C-2901).
