The Naval Sea Systems Command, Indian Head Division, on behalf of DARPA's Information Technology Office, intends to award a sole source modification to an existing contract (N00174-02-D-0002) to continue providing Scientific, Engineering, Technical, and Assistance (SETA) support until a new Seaport-enhanced task order is awarded. This modification will increase the contract ceiling by $1.7 million and extend the period of performance through the end of March 2006. The purpose is to ensure uninterrupted support for DARPA/IPTO and allow sufficient time to award and transition work to the upcoming Seaport-enhanced task order, following solicitation and proposal submissions under the Naval Sea Systems Command’s Seaport-enhanced multi-award contract. The government is proceeding under the authority of FAR 6.302 to solicit and negotiate with only one source for this modification, although it does provide an opportunity for interested parties to express their interest and capability to respond. Responses submitted within 45 days of the notice’s publication will be considered for determining whether the government should proceed with competitive procurement. However, the decision to compete remains at the government’s discretion. Questions and inquiries about the contract action are directed to the Naval Sea Systems Command Indian Head Division.
