RECOVERY: The Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office (DOE-SR) has awarded a contract with Consolidated Safety Services, Inc. for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Industrial Hygienist support services.

The Department of Energy Savannah River Operations Office awarded a contract to Consolidated Safety Services, Inc. to provide industrial hygienist support services for activities conducted at the Savannah River Site under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The contractor is responsible for facilitating the tracking of progress on initiatives and managing the preparation and submission of required reports. These efforts support a broader funding allocation of over 1.6 billion dollars aimed at decommissioning surplus nuclear reactor facilities, accelerating transuranic waste disposition, remediating soil and groundwater, and completing area closure. Due to the evolving nature of the scope of work and the government's inability to precisely forecast requirements, the agreement was competitively awarded as a Labor Hour Task Order. Because the scope is expected to change as work is executed, government oversight of the contractor's performance will be intermittent and unpredictable. The contract is managed by the Savannah River Operations Office based in Aiken, South Carolina.
