Redundant Fibre Installation for UHNBC

The City of Prince George is soliciting bids for the installation of a redundant 72F single mode fibre line for the University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC). The scope of work includes directional drilling, trenching, hydrovac, and excavation to install new conduits, fibre cables, service vaults, and splice cases. Key installation segments are located along Winnipeg Street between 13th and 5th Avenue, as well as a short run along Edmonton Street. All work must adhere to Bylaw 8618 (2014) and the provided technical drawings and as-builts. The project has an all-inclusive budget ceiling of 400,000 dollars, with fibre work required to be completed by December 31, 2026, and final remediation by Spring 2027. The contract is based on CCDC 2 (2020) with supplementary conditions, including a 10 percent holdback per the Builders Lien Act and a specific interest rate of 1 percent above the Royal Bank of Canada prime rate. Award will be based on the lowest overall price from a bidder who meets all mandatory requirements. Bidders must submit their proposals electronically via the bids&tenders system by September 22, 2026, and must include a digitally verifiable bid bond. The successful contractor will be required to provide a performance bond equal to the contract value and a labour and material payment bond for 50 percent of the contract price.
