During the Ice Storm of 2026 the facility lost power and 4 air handling units were damaged. All four are water based heating and cooling systems. Three of these units (roof mounted) need to be totally replaced and one on the inside of the building can be repaired. Likewise the roof mounted chiller needs to have coils replaced as they cannot be repaired due to the number and types of leaks in the coils. Due to the approaching summer months in Mississippi this work needs to be completed as soon as possible to prevent research from stopping due to extreme heat.
