AI Contract Overview
NASA’s IT Procurement Office is seeking capability statements from industry partners through a Request for Information (RFI 80TECH26RFI0020) to explore strategic partnerships for modernizing its data center infrastructure. This RFI is purely for market research and strategic planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation, proposal request, or commitment to award a contract. Respondents are encouraged to share innovative concepts for creating a more hybrid, scalable, and mission-aligned data center architecture that reduces physical footprint while enhancing reliability, security, and sustainability. Key focus areas include modernizing aging infrastructure such as backup generators, HVAC systems, chilled water pumps, and uninterruptible power supplies; advancing high-density computing and edge or distributed architectures; integrating cloud and on-premise resources into a unified system; ensuring robust cyber and physical security with FISMA-aligned controls; isolating NASA data and networks from commercial tenants; and improving energy efficiency and water usage at scale. Responses should be submitted electronically by July 17, 2026, at 5:00 PM EST to Michelle Downs and Kimberly Sandoz, referencing RFI #80TECH26RFI0020, and must be in PDF or Microsoft Word format, no larger than 20 pages, with 11-point or larger font on 8.5” x 11” paper. Pricing information is prohibited, proprietary details must be clearly marked and minimized, and all submissions become U.S. Government property with no reimbursement for costs incurred. While no formal evaluation criteria or contracting action is guaranteed, interested parties are advised to monitor SAM.gov for future solicitations, and initial notifications of interest must be sent within ten business days of the RFI’s posting. The NAICS code for this activity is 518210, and the primary place of performance is Hampton, Virginia. The Ombudsman clause applies for dispute resolution, and no government response to inquiries is guaranteed.
