Reyes Adobe Rd. High-Intensity Activated Crosswalk Project

PERMITS: Before starting any construction work, the Contractor will be required to obtain all necessary permits from the City, which may include obtaining a no fee encroachment permit for Work within the public right-of-way, as well as all other permits required from all other agencies. Should this Project require construction of trenches or excavations which are five (5) feet or deeper and into which a person is required to descend, the Contractor shall obtain a Cal/OSHA permit and furnish the City with a copy before Work can commence on this Project. The Contractor shall bear all cost for fees for all agencies except for the City's permit fees. The Contractor and all subcontractors shall each obtain a City business license, and shall be licensed in accordance with State Business and Professions Code. The Contractor and all subcontractors shall bear all costs for the City's business license. COOPERATION AND COLLATERAL WORK: The Contractor shall be responsible for coordinating all Work with the City's street sweeping, trash pick-up, and street maintenance contractors, emergency services departments, utility companies' crews, and others when necessary. Payment for conforming to these requirements shall be included in other items of Work, and no additional payment shall be made thereof. THE CONTRACTOR'S EQUIPMENT AND FACILITIES: A noise level limit of 86 dbA at a distance of 50 feet shall apply to all construction equipment on or related to the job whether owned by the Contractor or not. The use of excessively loud warning signals shall be avoided, except in those cases required for the protection of personnel.HAUL ROUTES: Subsection 2-5.4 of Part 1 of the Standard Specifications shall be deleted and replaced as follows: The Contractor must obtain the Engineer's approval before using any haul routes. Further detail requirements for haul traffic are delineated in the Special Provisions.CHANGES INITIATED BY THE AGENCY: The provision below shall supplement but not replace those provisions in Section 2-7 of the Standard Specifications. To allow for inclusion of reasonable contingencies in the bid, original quantity shall mean the quantity shown on the Plans or as delineated in the Specifications, and not the estimated quantity shown in the Bid schedule. GENERAL: The City reserves the right, without notice to the Surety, to increase or decrease the quantity of any item or portion of the Work described in the Contract Documents or to alter or omit portions of the Work so described, as may be deemed necessary or expedient by the Engineer, without in any way making the Contract void. Such increases, alterations or decreases of Work shall be considered and treated as though originally contracted for, and shall be subject to all the terms, conditions and provisions of the original Contract. The Contractor shall not claim or bring suit for damages, whether for loss of profits or otherwise, on account of any decrease, alteration or omission of any kind of Work to be done. EXTRA WORK: New and unforeseen work will be classified as Extra Work only when the Work is not covered and cannot be paid for under any of the various items or combination of items for which a Bid price appears on the Bid. The Contractor shall not do any Extra Work except upon written order from the Engineer. The Project includes, without limitation, furnishing all necessary labor, materials, equipment and other incidental and appurtenant Work necessary to satisfactorily complete the installation of a HAWK pedestrian signal at the intersection of Reyes Adobe Road and Rainbow Crest Drive. Minor concrete and brick work will be needed in the southeast corner to create a pad for the traffic signal cabinet. The City may decide to include an additional pedestrian signal at the intersection of Reyes Adobe Road and Stonecrest Drive as Alternative 1. Alternative 1 will also include the reconstruction of curb ramps at the northeast and northwest corners.
