AI Contract Overview
Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, operating on behalf of the Department of Energy through the Fermi Forward Discovery Group, LLC, is seeking information through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify potential vendors capable of designing, fabricating, and optionally assembling and installing a suspended work platform system for the MAGIS-100 experiment. The system is intended to provide safe personnel access to instrumentation located within a 100-meter-deep vertical shaft at the Fermilab site in Batavia, Illinois, primarily to support regular maintenance activities. Responses are due by July 20, 2026, at 5:00 PM CT, after an amendment extended the original deadline from July 14, 2026. The RFI specifically requests design sketches or models, detailed drawings along with STEP files, budgetary cost estimates, lead times for delivery, assembly and installation procedures, examples of prior similar work, and any design recommendations or adjustments. All proposed solutions must comply with OSHA standards and other applicable safety requirements, particularly regarding structural strength and railing specifications. This solicitation, identified as AD_RFI_MAGIS-100_DA under NAICS code 332323, is strictly for market research purposes and will not result in a contract award; responses will not influence any future Request for Proposals. Interested parties are encouraged to attend a virtual pre-RFI meeting held on June 25, 2026, and may submit questions or proposals via email to Danielle Amico at damico@fnal.gov. The agency has not specified packaging, inspection, or formal acceptance protocols as this is not a procurement action.
