AI Contract Overview
The US Air Force Academy Chemistry Department is conducting market research through a Request for Information to identify qualified vendors capable of providing a commercial-off-the-shelf Simultaneous Dynamic Scanning Calorimeter/Thermogravimetric Analysis instrument that meets stringent technical requirements. The instrument must simultaneously collect DSC and TGA data to measure heat flow, weight changes, temperature, and heat capacity of samples, with a temperature range extending from ambient to 1500°C, a sample weight capacity of 200mg, and weighing precision of ±0.1%. It must include integrated purge gas control for two simultaneous gases and be easily interfaced with a Mass Spectrometer or FTIR. The system must be NRTI certified with the specific laboratory’s certification mark, as CE marks alone are unacceptable under OSHA product safety standards. The accompanying PC and monitor must be manufactured in the United States. Vendors must provide a full one-year warranty covering all travel, labor, and parts, along with five-year extended service protection specifically for furnace failure. Installation, certification, and training must be included as part of the offering. Respondents must submit a capability statement via email to Tammy Martin by 2:00 p.m. MST on May 29, 2026, including company details, point of contact, email, phone number, and Unique Entity ID, along with business size and socioeconomic status under NAICS 334516. The submission must specify the make, model, and part number of the proposed instrument, include a product specification sheet, state the place of manufacture, and indicate the lead time for delivery. Non-OEM vendors must provide an authorization letter from the original equipment manufacturer. Known acceptable models include the TA Instruments Discovery SDT 650, Mettler Toledo TGA/DSC 3+, and Netzsch STA 509 Jupiter, or equal alternatives. All submissions must include specific documentation proving NRTI certification compliance. This RFI is strictly for information gathering and planning purposes and does not constitute a solicitation for quotes or a commitment to award a contract. The delivery location is the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with no specified contract value or formal evaluation criteria beyond technical compliance.
