SPAWAR Systems Center Atlantic (SSC Atlantic), supporting various U.S. government agencies, is conducting market research through a Request for Information (RFI) to identify advanced face and iris recognition systems with stand-off and fast capture capabilities suitable for high-throughput environments. The goal is to gather information on technologies that can contribute to developing a multi-modal biometric access control prototype system. The RFI targets government, industry, and academic organizations involved in technology development, prototyping, system development, and operational testing of biometric devices, emphasizing the automated rapid capture of moving subjects. Respondents are asked to submit a one-page product description and a quad chart for each individual system or enabling technology by February 15, 2013. The information collected will assist multiple stakeholders, including NIJ, NIST, DHS, and DoD, in shaping their strategic technology roadmaps and investment plans. SSC Atlantic’s Biometrics Integrated Product Team also plans to invite select respondents to provide capability briefings and technology demonstrations later in the fiscal year. This RFI is solely for information gathering and planning, not a solicitation for proposals or a contract award, and submissions will be kept confidential within government usage.
