Full Description

Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, personnel and supervision necessary to perform security services to the University Library. One (1) guard per assigned shift shall patrol all floors and public areas of the Library and Library Addition, monitoring the personal safety of students, staff and visitors. Guard shall enforce the Library’s policies by engaging persons violating policy in a polite and professional manner. Procedure for taking the appropriate action with those in non-compliance will be established and followed. Guard shall assist staff with citizen’s arrest / detention of persons suspected of library theft or other crimes. Guard shall prevent the damage, destruction, vandalism and theft of Library materials by confronting persons seen engaged in these activities and taking appropriate action. While patrolling the facility, guard shall note and report hazards, unsafe areas, equipment or areas of the building requiring maintenance. Guard shall report and reset any exit alarms which may have been activated. Guard shall provide directional information as required. Guard will maintain an event log of daily activities and incidents as required. Guard will read and follow posted procedures as they relate to the safe and secure operation of the Library, its staff and users. Guard shall assist with building evacuations as necessary and will contact University Public Safety for urgent emergency matters. Other departments may participate as needed.
