Pre-bid Tour Points of Clarification for 15 August 2014: 1.) Typically due to late snow melt in the Beaver Dam Saddle vicinity the culvert replacement sites are not accessible until between July 1 and July 15 on the average year. 2) To Clarify culverts to be replaced at milepost 21.20, 22.60, and 24.60 will be stream crossing and shall be installed in accordance to the stream crossing detail on sheet 3. All other culverts will be installed in accordance to the "Typical HDPE Installation in Cut Section" detail on sheet 3 and will require the class 4 rip rap at the outlet. 3) Excavation quantities we determined by calculating the in place excavation using the average end area method. A typical trench cross section had a 3' tall vertical walled trench at the bottom near the pipe that was the pipe diameter plus 30" wide. After, the three foot vertical wall the trench was excavated at a 1 foot horizontal to 1 foot vertical slope in accordance with OSHA trenching guidelines. If the contractor chooses to excavate outside the typical trench detail described above all additional excavation will be incidental and will not constitute additional excavation quantity.
