Russian Gulch Combo Building Accessibility Upgrades

The project at Russian Gulch will replace an existing non-ADA compliant comfort station with a new, accessible facility of similar size to enhance visitor accessibility, particularly for individuals with disabilities. The new structure will be approximately 700 square feet, featuring batten board siding and clerestory windows, and will include three showers and four toilet stalls compliant with current accessibility codes. The existing combo building will be demolished, and the site will be reconfigured to include a 300-square-foot accessible concrete parking space, a 15-minute aggregate base parking area, and concrete flatwork surrounding the building. The campground road in front of the restroom will be repaved for approximately 1,700 square feet to ensure safe and level access. All necessary utility connections are located nearby, minimizing installation complexity. A geotechnical investigation will be conducted with two 6-inch diameter borings, each 15 to 25 feet deep, using a truck-mounted auger drill rig. These borings will be properly backfilled with neat cement grout to ensure site stability and safety. The entire project is designed to meet modern accessibility standards while preserving the functionality and aesthetic of the existing facility.
