The City of Toledo Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement (MONSE) announces a funding opportunity for youth-serving organizations to lead the Save Our Community Youth Employment Program (SOC-YEP). SOC is a community violence intervention and prevention program that works with individuals and communities identified as high risk for violence involvement. The program utilizes conflict resolution, mediation, safety planning, case management, mentorship, and behavior change coaching (including Rewire CBT and other evidence-based tools) to reduce risk and build protection against future violence. SOC-YEP will further bolster protective factors by engaging 20 youth and young adults aged 14 to 24 in 144 hours of paid job training, holistic support, and practical work experience. Youth employment programs have proven effective at reducing violence and recidivism among participants during and after program completions. • As an addendum to the final plan, a list of temporary, low cost, tactical improvements will be identified that are intended to improve safety and enhance beatification on the Corridor until funding is secured to implement the final plan.
