Sewer Lift Station S-7 Reconstruction Project

The Sewer Lift Station S-7 Reconstruction Project, managed by the City of Long Beach Utilities Department, involves the demolition of the existing lift station and the installation of new infrastructure to meet current city standards. Key construction elements include a circular wet well with submersible pumps reaching depths of 28 feet, a rectangular valve vault and flow meter vault, a 5-foot diameter maintenance hole, and a new generator building with an associated electrical equipment pad. The project also includes the installation of approximately 1,450 linear feet of 8-inch diameter ductile iron sewer force main within existing city rights-of-way. Upon completion, the system will provide a total pumping capacity of 860 gallons per minute with a force main flow velocity between three and six feet per second. Located at 349 Lakeview Avenue in Long Beach, California, the project is scheduled to begin in late 2026 and last approximately 12 months, with a target operational year of 2028 to precede the Olympic construction moratorium. The project is subject to rigorous environmental and regulatory compliance, including a Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program, a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, and sea level rise and coastal flooding resilience planning. Special requirements include mandatory consultation and monitoring by the Juaneño Band of Mission Indians – Acjachemen Nation during all ground-disturbing activities, as well as adherence to the Long Beach Municipal Code regarding working hours and traffic control.
