Shasta River Fishing Access Hazardous Fuel Reduction Project

Vegetation treatment is intended to protect the property from a devastating fire that could result in destruction of the fishing access and damage to the stream and water quality. Project activity will entail hand removal (chainsaws, weed eaters) and/or prescriptive temporary goat grazing, of overgrown brush and woody vines, removing any dead and dying trees, and removing small diameter conifer saplings and sprouts (< 8” diameter at breast height) from the understory to prevent near-future overcrowding conditions and disease. Larger healthy trees will be pruned or grazed up to a height of 10’ from the ground.
