The Department of Defense’s Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking details on commercial off-the-shelf small platform tactical robots designed for use by law enforcement in reconnaissance and hazardous situations. Specifically, the request focuses on robots with a chassis weight under 60 pounds that align with the Department of Homeland Security’s Authorized Equipment List designation AEL #03OE-07-ROBT. This effort supports the DHS System Assessment and Validation for Emergency Responders (SAVER) Program, which aims to evaluate and validate commercial equipment to aid emergency responders. Interested parties are invited to submit company information, robot specifications such as model, weight, camera count, and telescoping arm capability, and points of contact by January 17, 2014. Vendors should note that submitted information will be publicly available and may be included in SAVER documentation; therefore, proprietary data should not be shared. The RFI is purely for information gathering and planning and does not constitute a solicitation or promise of contract award. Participants are required to complete and submit a specified form available on the SSC Atlantic e-commerce website and may reach out to designated technical or contract contacts for assistance or inquiries. Selection for potential future project participation will consider input from emergency responders gathered through surveys and focus groups, rather than direct vendor follow-up through the Federal Business Opportunities system. The government encourages vendors to respond promptly and provides support resources to address website access or submission issues. This initiative reflects an effort to enhance emergency response capabilities by identifying suitable robotic platforms for tactical operations.
