AI Contract Overview

The contract involves a firm-fixed price commercial supply with incidental services for the delivery and installation of Herman Miller Action Office 2 modular systems furniture. This requirement supports the expanding workforce of the Honolulu Engineer District (HED). The Government has determined that Herman Miller, Inc., through Contract Furnishers of Hawaii, Inc. dba Office Pavilion, is the sole responsible source capable of fulfilling this need due to the necessity of maintaining consistency in model line, color, style, and interchangeable furniture parts. This consistency allows for cost efficiency and optimal use of office space layout across district offices. The Government plans to issue a delivery order under the GSA contract GS-28F-8049H to procure the furniture. The specific materials and finishes required include Herman Miller Fabrics & Finishes such as Tackboard/Panel Fabric in Vapor Grey, Medium Tone Paint, Frosted Inner Tone Light Laminate, and Rapunzel Mallard 6010 fabric for flipper doors, ensuring uniformity with existing installations. Interested GSA contractors were invited to contact the designated representative by August 4, 2004, though the contract is identified as a sole source procurement under 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1) because no other suppliers meet the agency's stringent requirements.
