STAC-Based Satellite Data Ingestion Module Development

A Python-based module is being developed to integrate with CoastSeg for the automated ingestion and preprocessing of Landsat and Sentinel-2 satellite imagery sourced from STAC-compliant APIs. The module must handle metadata extraction, apply cloud masking techniques to filter out obstructed pixels, and perform top-of-atmosphere reflectance calibration to ensure data consistency and scientific accuracy. The solution must be robust, scalable, and compatible with existing CoastSeg workflows, supporting both satellite constellations without requiring manual intervention during data processing. The work is structured as a subcontract under the Department of the Interior’s Office of Acquisition Grants, aligned with NAICS code 511210 for software publishing, and is expected to be delivered by the response deadline of July 24, 2026.
