Stage and Rain Gage at Dublin Creek

The California Department of Water Resources has entered into a contract with the Zone 7 Water Agency to install a telemetered precipitation and stage gage along Dublin Creek in Alameda County, specifically at the northwest quadrant of the Highway 580/680 interchange. This project is part of the California Stream Gage Improvement Program and aims to collect real-time stage and precipitation data for use by public agencies and the general public. The installation includes two pressure transducer probes, a tipping bucket, stage gages, staff plates, a tagline/pulley system, a solar panel, and an electronics enclosure box. To support this equipment, galvanized pipes will be installed both outside the channel for the enclosure and solar components and driven into the ground for the staff plates and pulley system. The project is governed by strict environmental and operational constraints to ensure minimal impact on the surrounding area. All installations must be performed using only hand equipment, and the work must be limited to the smallest practicable footprint. The contract explicitly prohibits the removal of vegetation and any changes to the streambed or bank. Due to its nature as an information collection project, it qualifies for a categorical exemption under CEQA Section 15306.
