AI Contract Overview
The Bureau of Labor Statistics is seeking information from vendors through a Request for Information to acquire comprehensive, one-year datasets on monthly wireless and wireline telecommunications service plans, with the intent to fully purchase the data rather than lease it temporarily. This data will support the BLS in refining and maintaining the accuracy of economic price indexes, which are critical for measuring inflation and other economic trends using household-reported spending information on telecom services. The agency requires detailed, current pricing structures to ensure its indexes remain relevant, timely, and reflective of real-world consumer expenditures. The solicitation, identified as RFIOAA-26-00385 under NAICS code 541990, was posted on June 24, 2026, with responses due by June 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM Eastern Time. The procurement is managed by the Department of Labor, specifically through its Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management, with the primary point of contact being DeCarlo Coleman and secondary contact Shayla Battle, both reachable via email through the Department of Labor. The place of performance is in Washington, D.C., with a ZIP code of 20212, and all submissions must be made through the SAM.gov portal using the provided official link.

Full Description
The purpose of this RFI is to gather information about potential vendors to obtain current monthly wireless and wireline telecommunications service plan pricing. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has an ongoing interest in market data with which to analyze, evaluate, and improve the indexes it produces. Specifically, the BLS is seeking detailed data for one year from a survey asking households to record information about their purchases for telecommunications services. BLS would like to wholly purchase this data, as opposed to a temporary lease of the data. The BLS is the principle Federal agency responsible for measuring price changes in the economy and constructs indexes using data collected from both households and business establishments. Because of the importance of BLS data, it is critical that the component indexes are accurate, timely, and relevant.
