The contract involves a sole source award to L-3 Communications Titan Corporation, operating as Advanced Products and Design, for the procurement of a single DOCCT/S UHF DAMA SATCOM Trainer. This simulator is specifically designed to meet the Marine Corps Communications and Electronics School’s training requirements at the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command in Twentynine Palms, California. This capability facilitates comprehensive classroom training on operation as well as organizational and intermediate maintenance of current Marine Corps manpack UHF SATCOM terminals. The contracting office is the Purchasing and Contracting Branch at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, with Rick Dutton serving as the point of contact. The intent is to enhance the Marine Corps’ ability to train personnel effectively on essential satellite communications equipment using this advanced simulator, ensuring readiness and proficiency in SATCOM operations. The contract was publicly noted in July 2006 and underscores the Department of Defense’s commitment to advanced training solutions through streamlined procurement procedures.
