Trench Excavation and Backfilling

This subcontract for the City of Douglas, Georgia, involves performing excavation for utility trenches and engineered backfill for airport driveway projects. The scope of work includes excavating sewer trenches, placing bedding courses, and ensuring mechanical compaction of select backfill to a 100 percent standard proctor test. The contractor is responsible for rock excavation, which includes drilling and blasting operations. For any blasting occurring within 500 feet of structures, seismic testing is required in accordance with AASHTO T-180 or ASTM-D-1557. The final deliverable is the completion of fully compacted trenches.
