The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has announced a procurement opportunity for bulk pack boneless skinless turkey thighs to support school lunch and other domestic nutrition assistance programs. The purchase will focus on chilled (with frozen options possible) boneless skinless turkey thighs derived exclusively from ready-to-cook young turkeys, packed in commercial containers as per the Commodity Specification dated October 2009. Each purchase unit will total 36,000 pounds. Offers are to be submitted electronically via the Domestic Electronic Bid Entry System by the specified deadline, with acceptances announced shortly thereafter for deliveries scheduled between January 1 and 15, 2010. The program introduces a key change from the prior year by restricting accepted turkey thighs to those produced only from young turkeys. Bidders must meet several qualification criteria, including timely responses to audit non-conformances, recent audited food defense plans, and financial updates through Dun & Bradstreet. All certifications in the Central Contractor Registry and Online Representations and Certifications Application must be completed prior to bidding. Participants are encouraged to review all relevant AMS solicitations, specifications, and qualification documents thoroughly. The USDA emphasizes non-discrimination in all its programs and provides accommodations for those with disabilities. For additional information or inquiries, contact details are provided for the Contracting Officer, and relevant resources are accessible online.
